This is a common toilet found all around Japan, however, it is an older style.  FYI:  squatting is required!
                        Who needs to read Japanese with illustrations such as this one.

. . . for a more modern feel, though, try using one of these washlettes.

Most folks really come to appreciate this style of toilet and really miss it once it is gone!  I missed it so much, I bought and installed one of my own. . .

As a word of warning, most bathrooms don't have toilet paper, but street advertisers will hand out small tissue packs with advertisements printed on them, be sure to take them whenever you can.  They come in very handy and look similar to this. . .
